| So, I'm dremelling a bolt with a cutoff wheel to make it a little shorter. I'm holding the bolt with some pliers (even though my vise was about a foot away... dunno why I didn't use it) and the cutoff wheel breaks. The bolt was yanked out of the pliers and slammed my left eye. Some pain, an emergency optometrist visit, some antibiotic drops, and a few hours later I'm home with an abrasion of my cornea almost directly on top of the pupil. According to the doc, there are 5 layers in the cornea and the first layer is broken down into 7 more. I took out those 7. Prognosis is fine. Everything should heal up in a day or two so it's not as bad as it sounds and I'm wearing my first ever contact lens as a bandage to protect the eye. HOWEVER, don't skimp on the safety glasses. Mine were in the cabinet (again about a foot away) but I was being lazy and it cost me. Don't let it happen to you!
